I ordered the remote tune motor kit from Chameleon which came in Monday of this week 2 Jan 23 and proceed to install it. A low budget view from my iPHone of the install, setup and tuning the F-Loop3.0 with Power Compensator. I would like to mention a couple things about the remote tune. 1. It works great and the jog button is smooth as ever. 2. There is no visual indication as to where you are when you tune up the antenna so you have to pay attention to a very sensitive noise increase ( as with in manual ) 3. Unlike some of the competition's remote tune controllers this one seems to make little to NO noise in the radio and you can actually tune it real time. The competition once you tune you have to shut off the controller as it spews RFI all over the place. This remote tune is excellent in this regard.
4. Was it worth $300? You decide. I can finally sit inside the house and remote tune on my balcony and don't have to deal with bugs, humidity etc. (trust me bugs are bad in Florida)
I really like the F3.0 box and the power compensator. I have a series of WSPR reports I will release shortly and show that the compensator works and actually improves the performance a couple dB. Please note this is my primitive way of sharing info about my fascination with Magnetic Loop Antennas and quick deployment.
The Xiegu XPA125b amp is connected with a special made up Y cable and a commercial cable I ordered on the internet so I could key the amp with my IC705 and KX2. The amp works well. It's quiet and takes just .1 watt to yield 20watts. Into other antennas a 2-3 watt input yields 70-80 watts out. I have started using a 10 db (5 watt) attenuator in line with the radios antenna ( turning on the RF Pre-amp to compensate) when running FT8 with 0.2 to 3 watt into the setup giving me better transmit control and not heating up the
705 or KX2.
AGAIN thumbs up for Chameleon Antenna. Their stuff is AWESOME as usual with great fit, finish and excellent technical support..
