Excessive heat continues into midweek.
The WCNC Charlotte Weather Team wants you to be Weather Aware because of the dangerous heat ongoing across the Carolinas this week.
The Charlotte metro will see afternoon high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s this week with the heat index topping out around 95 to 98 on Tuesday and even hotter Wednesday. And the heat will spike Wednesday when the "actual" temperature is 98 degrees and the heat index makes it feel closer to 102 or higher.
Stay Weather Aware this week, especially on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. And look for creative ways to beat the heat by reducing your chances of falling ill in the unseasonably hot weather.
And while the scorching temperatures catch your eye, the ongoing high humidity can lead to health concerns, especially among people with medical conditions. Some best practices include drinking water throughout the day, limit your exposure to the sun, and staying cool with an AC or fan to allow your indoor space to remain cool and comfortable.
