The Punjab government big update:- Changes rules for licensed arms

A notice has recently been issued by the Punjab Government regarding the amendment in the Arms Act. With the amendment to the Arms Act, the licensee will now be able to carry only two firearms. It has been made mandatory for the licensee who has 3 firearms to keep any 2 firearms and submit the remaining 1 firearm to the concerned police station or authorized arms dealer by December 13, 2020. If a person is a member of the Armed Forces, he / she has to be deposited in the armory of his / her unit within a year.
As per the amendment made in the Arms Act, the validity of ammunition license has been extended from 3 years to 5 years. The new license and renewal period will now be 5 years. Penalties have also been increased under Section 25 of the Arms Act, which carries a minimum penalty of 10 years imprisonment, up to life imprisonment, if a person forcibly snatches a weapon from a police or army employee. Can be congratulated and there will be a fine.
New sub-section 6-7 of section 25 of the Arms Act adds new penalties for organized crime syndicates, under which unlicensed firearms are recovered from a member of an organized crime syndicate or any person affiliated with it. If he is caught carrying, carrying, selling, altering, repairing, etc. carrying the weapon or shortening the barrel of the weapon, the offense carries a minimum sentence of 10 years imprisonment up to life imprisonment. Is Under this, the crime of arms smuggling has been sentenced to 10 years.
Under this, if a person fires recklessly or negligently at a wedding or any other event which endangers human life or the safety of the people, the offense carries a minimum sentence of 2 years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1 lakh.
