I'm a fairly recent fan of Over the Rhine, I can say without any reservation that they have won my heart and soul with their music. I am especially impressed with the poetic talent of Linford Detweiler, songwriter, who also plays the Acoustic Guitar, Bass, Piano and Mellotron. Then there is the extremely talented singer and Acoustic guitar player, Karin Bergquist. Her voice often reminds me of Alison Krauss, another favorite of mine, but she has her own very unique style, perhaps more bluesy than Alison, with the added country gospel aspect to her voice.
It was very difficult to choose which song I wanted to make a video of from a very long list of very good songs. Furthermore, It took me a very long time to choose the various works of art used in this video, it is my hope, that it might add to the original meaning of this very moving song. One of the best things I like about Over the Rhine is that they can express something that's a very moving, soul deep, and of a spiritual nature that's not "in your face".
I could go on and on about them! Anyway, I would like to dedicate this video to Over the Rhine. You can see what their up to here at their web site:
