If your interested on what this guy said on his social media this is what he said:
Yeah…oopsies. Don’t neglect canopy work! This was a high pull and I was the only one in the sky. Normally you probably wouldn’t have the altitude or airspace to do so, so I didn’t have to worry about other canopies in the sky.
After it fell off, I turned around and noticed it was falling at about the same rate and knew I had to try and grab it. Took me a few times to circle around and figure out what line I needed to fly to get to it. Too small of a circle and I didn’t have the precision to get on the right line and on level…too long of a line and I was wasting altitude.
Turns out a propellor hat has the same fall rate as a 1.5 WL Sabre in about 60% brakes. And before you get in the comments…the little propellor was extremely dull. Extremely small chance of it doing any damage to my lines, canopy or myself. In the rare event it did…I had the altitude to work with. BUT drop a comment anyway saying “IT COULD CHOP YOUR LINES😱” just to keep people in my comments longer 🤣
But yeah, don’t neglect canopy work OR forget about your surroundings. It may save you a hat one day 😎🤠
