This is a brand new Harley Benton RB-612 that was in for setup. It’s a 12-string electric with Gretschy pickups, Rickenbacker 620-ish body shape, semihollow build, and Rick/Gib-style controls.
The “out of the box” setup was horrendous and the saddles were not compensated. After modding the saddles and compensating them, restringing for a lighter gauge, and giving it a good deep setup, it now plays like a champ. It does get a pretty Ricky sound if you flip it to bridge and give a little boost to the highs and a little cut to the bass at your amp. It’s not ear-shredding treble but it gets close.
So — the guitar is perfectly fine for those of you who are into these Harleys, but if you want it to play right, expect to spend $100 or so getting it completely dialed-in. Fortunately my bandmate Rob owns this, so he’s not paying through the nose… hehe…
