Meet one of our many incredible Gippsland makers, Robert Barron.
Entering into Robert Barron’s property at Gooseneck Pottery on the outskirts of Leongatha is like stepping back in time. Away from the hustle and bustle, Rob has built a worthwhile and fulfilling living and continues a family legacy of potting, which he has adapted and developed into the intricate world of wood-fire pottery.
The purpose-built kiln and studio is positioned in a small wooded gully, shielded from the wind and enclosed in a private sanctuary of earnest dedication and production. The glazed wood-ash finishes of Rob’s pottery bely decades of fine tuning, building, planting, chopping, refining and crafting.
In this conversation, we delve beyond the surface to get to know this Gippsland maker. Rob’s fascinating artworks can be purchased from the Gippsland Art Gallery shop.
