Most older homes have outdated fluorescent lighting in the kitchen and bathrooms. Unfortunately, these lights are usually built into a recessed area which makes updating your lighting a challenge. One of the cheapest and easiest things you can do to upgrade your kitchen fluorescent lighting is remove the old light fixtures and install track lighting. My friend really liked what I've done with my kitchen lights and decided they wanted to change their lights as well. This project came with it's own set of challenges but we were able to get the job done. the only thing we left unfinished was texturing the ceiling to cover up the repair marks we left. I typically would have done this whole project differently, especially the wiring, but this is how they wanted it done and it does work well.
