The Clyfford Still Museum's exhibition, "A Decade of Discovery: Clyfford Still in Denver," is on view from October 15, 2021-March 6, 2022. The show revisits the Museum’s inaugural exhibition and highlights some of the most compelling revelations CSM has uncovered about the collection since it opened in 2011.
In its first decade, CSM has made countless discoveries as the staff inventoried and assessed the Museum’s vast art and archival holdings, worked to better understand visitors’ interests, and evaluated the artist’s legacy in an ever-changing world. "A Decade of Discovery" includes photographs of lost paintings from the 1930s, undocumented and mysterious artworks found during the collection inventory process, and conservation-related breakthroughs about Still’s materials. These never-before-shown elements recontextualize familiar paintings and stories, casting Still’s art, process, and legacy in a new light.
The exhibition features expanded information about Still’s earliest years, supportive family, and even a few architectural quirks unearthed about the building. Exhibition text highlights various staff, scholarly, and community voices to broaden engagement and present a wide range of perspectives.
