Its been a while since I've arranged Chinese pieces so I thought I would give this one a (long) shot!
The over-arching theme that comes through in this movie is that of Chinese traditional music - and as such is NOT easy to play on piano alone!
Simply playing pentatonic scales at break neck speed and doing octave jumps is beyond me!! Due to time constraints on practice, I simplified and shortened many sections to accomodate my limited skills - apologies for mistakes in advance btw...
I also experimented a little more this time round (piano tapping, whistling?!) - as the title of one of the tracks go : "Nothing ventured, nothing gained!" Enjoy and feel free to critique away!
Tracks played in this order:
1. Fisherman's Song of the East China Sea
東海漁歌 ( When Chow's internal powers are unleashed and he emerges from his 'cocoon' at pig sty village :) )
2. Kung Fu (Played right at the opening credits: Some claim that this was a tribute to Bruce Lee in Fist of Fury?)
3. Daring General (when the Beast senses the 'two-fated-lovers' are within vicinity at the casino)
4. Nothing ventured, nothing gained (the infectious axe gang theme- enough said!)
5. 只要為你活一天 (Zhi yao ni wei wo huo yi tian) ( the romantic theme that plays when chow first encounters the mute, lollypop-selling girl)
