Kia ora whānau,
Meri Kirihimete me te Hape Nū Ia!
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
We are excited to share "Too Fast, Tu Meke" our second Virtual Production Test.
We decided to have a little bit of fun with this and felt that a Hollywood style teaser trailer was the way to go! We wanted to demonstrate how many environments and setups we could achieve in a short period of time whilst we continued to test and hone our knowledge around shooting on a virtual stage with the LED panels. It was shot over the course of two and a half days at Avalon Studio, we had two weeks to plan and produce this Epic undertaking with generous support from Streamliner (LED panels), Arri Australia (Alexa Mini LF Camera), and our Wellington film community.
We are super keen to support our local industry, to empower creatives through the sharing of knowledge and technology, to help promote local IP creation and ensure our collective dreams do become a reality.
During our test shoot, we invited onto our set local talent from across the film, gaming and educational industries to watch what we were up to. Our awesome onset crew of enthusiasts collaborated to test the new technology in production, whilst simultaneously showcasing and promoting the potential of what combining film production with game technology could achieve through the power of Epic Game’s Unreal Engine.
We are hoping this leads to our local content creators feeling further empowered, especially those who are keen to achieve Hollywood high concept ideas on a budget. For us, the ability to develop high concept Indigenous driven stories that include big world building environments motivates us to promote this next step in the evolution of the storytelling process and excites Amber Marie immensely, as a Māori filmmaker she continues to advocate for a diverse range of stories on our screens.
The whakataukī ‘He waka eke noa - We are all in this together’ resonates deeply with us, our vision is to share our knowledge and experience in the hope to help promote that “together we can rise and collectively tell our stories”.
Huge outpouring of thanks to Arri Australia, Streamliner Productions and Avalon Studios and to our cast, crew and community who have been so gracious with their time, support and aroha. 'Aroha mai, aroha atu'.
We are continuing to learn a lot, we know there is much for us to improve upon, our LED Virtual Production journey is only just beginning.
Arohanui ki a koe e hoa,
The Granary xo
