It's official, PewDiePie didn't delete his YouTube channel.
Earlier this month PewDiePie revealed that once his YouTube account hit 50 million subscribers, he would delete it. Yesterday, he set the time of deletion at 5PM GMT/ 12PM EST. Since August 15, 2013, PewDiePie has held the title of the most subscribed YouTube user and now he's bigger than ever.
So what was the joke? Well, turns out, the joke's on us! Thanks to his popularity, after announcing that he'd delete his channel once he reached 50 million subscribers, a slew of news outlets reported on this, thus spotlighting his channel even more. Thanks to the spotlight and the promise of account deletion, his subscriber count skyrocketed and of course hit that milestone, becoming the first ever Youtube channel to do so.
