Humanity’s first steps on the moon 50 years ago this month gave the world a moment where the planet seemed united—a moment summed up in Neil Armstrong’s celebrated words: “That’s one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind.”
But there is still so much we don’t know about the moon. As the world celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, Ohio State News sat down with Wayne Schlingman, director of the Arne Slettebak Planetarium at The Ohio State University, to hear more about what that first moon landing taught us and what we still have to learn about our moon.
