From there, Julia offers tips for exploring Cairngorms National Park, catching a trained sheepdog show or a Highland Games (with burly "feats of strength" and delicate dancing) , visiting the prehistoric Clava Cairns that inspired Outlander, touring the historic Culloden Battlefield (where the Jacobite rising and the Highland way of life met a bloody end), looking for sea monsters (and ruined castles) at Loch Ness, and hiking the "Weeping Glen" of Glencoe.
