Resorts World at Sentosa awarded McConnell Dowell a design and construction contract for a new vehicular bridge from Singapore to Sentosa Island.
Resorts World are developing an integrated resort which will include six hotels, casino and a Universal Theme Park on Sentosa Island. The world-class and pioneering resort project is set on 49 hectares and is scheduled for opening in the first quarter of 2010.
The bridge will provide additional traffic capacity for the anticipated 15 million visitors to the new resort. The 710m long, three-lane bridge was built parallel to the current Sentosa bridge (fourlanes). The bridge is a 400 m long balanced cantilever structure and 310 m long causeway.
A 50m long pedestrian underpass and a 400m long stel utilities bridge are also included in the package of work.
Relocation of three piers of the exisiting light rail line bridge was required to make way for the new structure.
The new bridge is adjacent to the existing Land Reclamation and Seawall Project also constructed by McConnell Dowell for the new resort.
