OmniVision has announced a major breakthrough in pixel technology. The company has succeeded in creating an image sensor with the world's smallest pixels of 0.56 microns.
It is noted that the new technology allows you to create miniature pixels smaller than the wavelength of red light (625-740 nm or 0.625-0.74 microns). For example, the new 0.56 µm pixel is significantly smaller than the ISOCELL HM3 (0.8 µm) or ISOCELL HP1 (0.64 µm) sensors. The ISOCELL HM3 sensor is used in the new flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
