The Pipiwai trail is one of the most popular trails in Maui. It is part of the Haleakala National Park in the Kipahulu district. We drove through Road to Hana the reverse way so this trail was our first stop and I'm glad we did it this way. We were the first few people in the park and we definitely ended up spending much more time there than we anticipated.
Entry into the park was $30. It's a little expensive for just visiting a trail but the entrance fee is actually valid for 3 days so I highly recommend planning to visit the Summit District of the Haleakala National Park while your pass is still valid as well.
The Pipiwai trail is 4 miles round trip and you get to experience multiple waterfalls and a beautiful bamboo forest. The weather was as hot and humid as you would expect, and you might just experience sudden rain showers here and there. Be sure to dress for the weather and put on tons of sunscreen and bug repellent before heading onto the trail.
Even though I loved seeing multiple waterfalls on this trail, my favorite part was actually walking through the bamboo forests and listening to the sound of bamboos. It was such a unique experience.
