What is modal interchange or what is modal mixture? If you want more tools for making great chord progressions, then using borrowed chords is an easy way to add extra spice!
In this episode, I will focus on combining different musical modes, or modal chord progressions as we can call it. My basis is the aeolian mode (or natural minor) and I am going to switch a chord, by taking one that is actually part of the Phrygian mode.
It's up to you how many chords you swap. You will be amazed by the results. This could also just be a fun music theory exercise to train yourself in writing different chord progressions.
