From the vocalist of Slash’s solo band to Alter Bridge to The Mayfield Four, Kennedy has proven time and again how versatile he is.
“I was always afraid lessons would change the way I sang, and make me sound too operatic, because I was into soul and blues singers," he says. "But it was one of the best things I did to improve my range and stamina. I learned to treat my voice like an instrument that is fragile, and learning how to hit the high notes consistently was a really eye-opening experience for me.”
"It’s all a matter of how you manipulate the vowels as you ascend. A goes to uh, ah goes to oh, e goes to a. It’s not that simple unfortunately," Myles says. "In conjunction with that, I keep the air going through my nose while raising the soft palette (like yawning) and snarling at the same time. It took me years to get this down. It is a lot to think about while trying to perform."
