The Pagoda Forest at Shaolin Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It refers to the main cemetery for Buddhist monks at the Shaolin Temple in the high mountains of Mount Song. A tribute to past monks, the cemetery covers about 5.2 acres, consisting of about 250 memorial pagodas built with stone or brick. The first pagoda in the cemetery is dated to 689. The burial continuity covers more than 1,200 years and five dynasties.
