Several homes and businesses in Alabama's Montgomery County were damaged by a possible tornado early Wednesday morning.

It touched down for only a brief time around a minute. However, there are reports of down trees and damaged homes and cars in the area; as well as power outages.

Just before 11am, Alabama power said that more than 6,400 customers have been impacted and over 700 in Montgomery County.

The Montgomery Emergency Management Agency is working to assess the damage and provide support for residents.
