Batu approaches each setting with great consideration. This includes thinking about the rhythmic elements that can neatly blend two tracks together and pondering a more existential question about why he takes planes and trains around the world on most weekends just to play music for people.

"I'm probably too much of a deep thinker for my own good sometimes," he said. "On the festival circuit––and the pressure there is to play more shows and compare yourself to others––there needs to be a meaning to it, otherwise it's completely vacuous, and it's hard to justify being involved in it all."
