After decades of repression during British colonisation of New Zealand, traditional Māori tattoo practices known as tā moko are experiencing a renaissance. A few artists are working to revive the nearly extinct art form using traditional tools and techniques. We spoke to one of them, Mokonui-a-rangi Smith. He told us more about the "integration of the Māori world within what is a white-dominant New Zealand".
