One day back in February, Maddy Mullany, Clarke Williams and Bridger Dunnagan headed down to @echomountainrecording to play some old time tunes. What ensued was an unrehearsed jam captured in the beautiful old church room. They took turns choosing songs and swapping instruments throughout the afternoon while playing into an old microphone nicknamed “The Birdcage” ( legend has it that JFK gave a speech through this mic at a UN council. ) The resulting sound of these old songs being played through a much younger but still very old microphone yielded a raw, unfiltered sort of sound. They managed to lay down 12 different tracks in one afternoon and have released them all over at Bandcamp. This album, to me, represents the fading winter of 2022, a specific time and place, and tunes that were being played in our community of musicians at that time.
