The #UJLibrary launched a Symposium for Serious Games on 16 May 2023 and followed it up with a Game Workshop by Dr Herman Myburgh in September 2023. We plan to have two exciting Symposia in 2024, on 18 March and 2 September. In the meantime, we have decided to start with a brand new journal in 2024, in which Dr Myburgh will be the editor-in-chief. This journal, called jeXed (Journal of ExoTechnology and Education), will publish all the presentations presented at the Symposia (double-blinded peer-reviewed) in June and November each year. What makes this Journal unique in South Africa is that an author will be allowed to include in their articles – apart from the normal figures and tables – videos, podcasts, apps, animations, clips, screenshots, data sets, robotics, coding, practice in motion, and other material related to the article. They may even present their articles in a PowerPoint presentation or any of the abovementioned forms, provided that the presentation meets DHET's accreditation requirements. It will be an open Journal published by the University of Johannesburg.
