Ralph McTell wrote a huge amount of really good songs – most of them sadly unknown – but „Streets ...“ is the one that gave him the financial background an artist needs, to do his own thing. By the way, it’s the reason why I started to study the art of picking in the early 1970s.
Ralph always refused to change the song (apart from the fact, that it should have been named „Streets of Paris“, but the record company preferred „London“, which may have been a good idea – who knows?), but the 2020 Corona-crisis turned out to be such a massive irritation to everyone’s life worldwide, that he added a fifth verse and here is the foll new version with the „Corona-verse“ at the end.
Study the technique of Finger-Picking (Travis-Picking), with your right thumb playing an alternating bass and your fingers playing the melody. Then start to play your favourite songs in a very entertaining and fascinating guitar-style.
And don't forget: To support musicians, you have to pay for their music. Streaming is stealing – Spotify (and all the other streaming-services) are not paying artists satisfactorily!
Played on my Lakewood M38 custom no-rainforest-woods guitar made of cherry, spruce, maple and plum with an L.R.Baggs Anthem pickup system.
