Mr Bennet has received a letter from Mr Collins warning him that Lady Catherine is not happy about Lizzy's maybe-maybe not engagement to Mr Darcy, which Mr Bennet finds incredibly amusing. He think Lizzy will too, since they have always been so close and alike, but he doesn't know Eliza's feelings towards Mr Darcy have changed, and therefore Lady Catherine's words have hurt her more than they would have if she'd been indiferent to Darcy.
They will soon change roles, with Mr Bennet being the surprised one, when Mr Darcy and Elizabeth have another talk...
