Rarely can a metal vocalist really improve their voice to the next level over time. Usually their vocal cords get worn out over years of extreme use. However with Suffocation's frontman Ricky Myers the opposite has occurred: his guttural vocals now sound better than ever. More monstrous. More cavernous. More grizzly. More bestial. This, along with top-notch shredding musicianship in every department. The band's rhythm section is second to none. Sick lead guitars too. From the start of the Hymns of the Apocrypha world tour till now, they've really nailed down every song from the classics to new material. Suffocation sounds better than ever. I'm a big fan of Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, Deicide, Cavalera Sepultura, Malevolent Creation, Obituary, but no other death metal band can pull of Suffocation's level of brutal heaviness with such technical finesse. Simply phenomenal.
