Many of my clients now are on weight loss injectables and there’s one thing on everybody’s mind: is this forever? How do I come off of it effectively in the future?
My take is that these medications can be so helpful for some people, offering a unique opportunity to work on your relationship with food and to reprioritize health-promoting activities like fitness and meal prep. But I also see them being used…abused?...and actually damaging some people’s mind-body connection.
If you choose to use these medications, please do two things:
1. Go into it discussing a plan to eventually come off of it with your doctor.
2. Be sure that you have a registered dietitian nutritionist you can work with when starting the drug, during its use (so you can build healthy habits!), then then as you taper back off in the future.
