We flew a Cessna 182 (MNX) down to Busselton so we could go and watch the weekly system tests and water drops of the LATs (Large Air Tankers). The Department of Fire and Emergency Systems is using 2 of these Large Air Tankers from Coulson Aviation. They are technically operated by the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, but are distributed across Australia for our fire season.

At the time of filming, the aircraft which were at Busselton were the Coulson Aviation Lockheed C-130H Hercules, registered N132CG and operating under the callsign Bomber 132. The other aircraft was a Coulson Aviation Boeing 737-3H4, with the registration N619SW, and the callsign Bomber 139.

Bomber 139 was bought by Coulson Aviation from Southwest Airlines in 2019, and entered service as an air tanker in July of 2022. This aircraft unfortunately crashed this week, on the 6th of Feb, 2023 while trying to control a fire in the South on Western Australia. The 2 pilots escaped without injuries, but the aircraft has burned down beyond repair.
