I tried GaryVee's $1.80 Instagram Strategy for 1 week. In this video, I go over exactly what I did and the results I got using this organic Instagram growth strategy.

Today we are talking about exactly what I did and the results I got after one week of using Gary Vaynerchuk’s $1.80 Instagram Growth Strategy.Whether you’re wanting to know how to grow on Instagram for business or just want know how to get followers on Instagram to get that almighty clout & fame, organic Instagram growth strategies like this one are always going to be around for you to use
Some of you may be asking yourselves, “what is the $1.80 Instagram Strategy?”. If you’re not aware of this Instagram marketing strategy, I posted a video a little while back outlining exactly what the GaryVee $1.80 strategy is (link above and at end of vid). Essentially, the strategy is leaving your 2 cents on 90 different Instagram posts. You find these posts through 10 relevant hashtags and comment on 9 posts from each hashtag. So, I did this for a total of 7 days. And here is what that looked like.
I approach this as more of an experiment. So I tested out a few different nuances to Garyvee’s strategy. I didn’t use any other Instagram growth strategy, and made sure not to post to my feed or add to my Instagram story; this ensures that the $1.80 strategy was isolated and nothing else influenced the results of this experiment.
Here is exactly what I did: determined first relevant hashtag, selected Recent, & engaged with the first 9 posts I felt I could leave a valuable comment on.
I experimented with different times of the day.
The next thing I did was try to figure out the best hashtags to use. I encourage you to try different ones and figure out how to find your ideal audience. But for me, with my business being wealth and business advice; I was trying to reach smaller businesses, entrepreneurs, and people interested in making more money. I tried to Focus on hashtags that gave me more smaller businesses and individuals
Well initially I started by searching the hashtag Business, simply becuase it was the first relevant hashtag that came to mind. And while this did give me individuals and small businesses in the results. It included other larger business which I didn’t think engaging with would result in them checking out and following my account. You could just keep scrolling to find posts that are little more relevant to you. But you need multiple hashtags anyways, so why not find ones that are slightly more targeted towards your ideal audience.
Engagement strategies I used:
I started with a valuable comment, which is what GaryVee recommends. And those Comments kind of fell into a few different methods, but with all of them I made sure to leave a unique comment that let them know I had looked at and read their post.
Comment methods: asked a question, added to their post or presented a differing opinion; or Repeated what they said in their post so they knew I read it, alongside a compliment or some kind of words of encouragement or aggrievance
I tried to do as many of these types of responses as I could, But obviously this took a lot of time and I found myself moving towards shorter and less involved comments the longer I spent doing the $1.80 strategy.
In addition to leaving a comment I always made sure to like the post as well. This gives another level of encouragement, makes the person posting happy and increases your chances of getting that follow. It also gives them another notification, so you show up twice within their notifications list. I do this right after commenting so they get notified 2 times back to back and you take up more of the screen when they’re are looking at their likes/notification tab.
Before this, my account was completely inactive. So all of these results came directly from this Instagram strategy. Using the $1.80 Instagram growth strategy was a success. I grew my Instagram following a decent amount, got a significant amount of impressions the amount of times someone has viewed a post or story) and reach (the amount of unique accounts that have seen my posts or stories), & got a lot of interactions (website clicks profile visits).
You can get significantly better results than I did, if you create a better first impression (profile pic, name, comment) & optimize your account to increase the amount of followers you get by creating an enticing bio, having great looking posts, and possibly adding story highlights that are a good representation of you and your page. I encourage you to experiment with each of these components of your account and profile, because I want you to get the best results possible.
So, definitely try it out! The principles of this organic Instagram growth strategy can be part your marketing strategy on any social media platform.
