- Start from the top down: IIf you leave the ceiling for last, the dust will fall on the floor you have already cleaned, or worse, you can forget and your client will find cobwebs or dirty light fixtures. Start with light fixtures and ceiling fans to take the dust and bugs out. Then go to ceiling corners and down with walls… doors and windows frames and light switches. And do not forget about window blinds.
- Oven and Fridge should be the first thing you look at: If the oven and fridge are too dirty, you may need to put some chemicals on them and let them work while you clean other areas. This will make it easier to clean later when it is time to clean them. Some ovens have autoclean that can also be helpful. This will be the part that takes you the longest to clean.
- Do not forget to clean everything inside: All drawers, cabinets and closets should be clean inside and out. Make sure you open everything and clean inside. The new tenants don't want to find dirty surprises when they open a drawer.
- Behind the appliances : You need to move out the appliances, so you can clean behind them. Food usually spells on the sides of the appliances and tenants never move them. You need to make sure you clean behind and also the sides of the appliances.
- Use stainless steel: Everything that is metal needs to be shiny, if you use just regular cleaner… it will dry with spots. Use stainless steel cleaner to prevent
- Leave vacuum marks: A carpet that has “the triangles” the vacuum marks. Leaves a better impression than a carpet with a lot of foot marks. Make sure to vacuum leaving tos marks behind, start forests from the door and vacuum in order until ending on the door to leave the room.
- Floors are last: Make sure to clean the floors last thing, and start cleaning from the farest rooms from the entrances… and make your way back to the entrances… That way you will not leave marks on the floor when walking around.
- Take care of the borders: Before you clean the floor, wipe down the base boards, and use your vacuum hose to clean the borders.
- Details matter: Do not forget about the small details. Door railing, Rubber in the fridge, Inside the dryer filter, air vents. And be careful with not visible areas, like behind the toilet.
- Smell can make it feel cleaner: When you enter a house, and smells good, it feels much cleaner. Use an air freshener before you leave the apartment to leave that good smell behind you.
