Written in C++ & OpenGL, this is a visualisation of a 3D game of life. It begins with the {[born:4],[survive:]} rule set which makes some nice symmetries, and then it moves to others later on.
You can find the source code here: [ Ссылка ].
The code has a general form for a game of life in N-dimensions, constrained periodically in each dimension. I wrote it in 2015 and made a small graphics engine much later with shaders & hdr etc, which is what is used here to visualise it. Unfortunately the camera work was manual, which is why it's a little shaky.
Many of the rules in the 3D version seem to produce bulk cells with unstable surfaces that produce pores like you might see in condensed matter. Gliders and Oscillators also appear in higher dimensions.
John Conway, a creator many things, including the original game of life, passed away last week on April 11th 2020.
