𝗪𝗔𝗥𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚: 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗱𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀.
In 2017, following more than a decade of consultation, First Nations Convention delegates from across the country came together to draft and overwhelmingly endorse the Uluru Statement from the Heart, which is issued to the Australian people.
The Uluru Statement from the Heart is a message written to Australian people from Indigenous Australians focusing on three major themes: Voice, Treaty and Truth.
It was born from years of consultation and reflects the largest deliberative process with Indigenous people on Australia's constitution in our nation's history.
𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐔𝐥𝐮𝐫𝐮 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬:

𝑇ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑎𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑠𝑡𝑜𝑟𝑠 𝑑𝑖𝑑, 𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑐𝑘𝑜𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑜𝑓 𝑜𝑢𝑟 𝑐𝑢𝑙𝑡𝑢𝑟𝑒, 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝐶𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛, 𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑚𝑜𝑛 𝑙𝑎𝑤 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 ‘𝑡𝑖𝑚𝑒 𝑖𝑚𝑚𝑒𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑎𝑙’, 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑎𝑐𝑐𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑠𝑐𝑖𝑒𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 60,000 𝑦𝑒𝑎𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑔𝑜.

In 2023, have the opportunity to come together and make history by voting YES in the referendum for a First Nations Voice to Parliament.
As unionists, we believe that all workers and all people deserve to be consulted about changes in the workplace and in society that affect us - and that by speaking up collectively we can make change that benefits us all.
The First Nations Voice to Parliament is a natural reflection of this principle of union values of consultation and collective voice. Enshrining a First Nations Voice to the Australian Constitution will enable Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to provide advice to Parliament of policies and projects that impact their lives. So as unionists, we are proud to stand in solidarity with our First Nations brothers and sisters in demanding this change.
