Selvedge denim is woven on antique shuttle looms and it takes 10 times longer to make than conventional denim, which is made on projectile looms. That's all selvedge *technically* means, but brands that make it tend to make jeans that are thicker, tougher, and more interesting. That's why my collection includes 21.5oz denim (that's twice as thick as standard), jeans dyed with persimmon, and one pair that costs $450. Since my new year's resolution is to not buy any jeans (lol) I thought I'd take you through the state of the union.
