Young model builders club kit from the 80’s I found on ebay (molded in yellow, yuck!). I believe it was just called 'jeep cj7 offraod' No doors, roof, or rear tail lights included. However it did include two cool gas cans that were supposed to mount where the taillights go. It is a 1/24 scale model according to what I have read, although it looks at home in a sea of 1/25 scale cars it is sitting with now. Monogram made this kit in blue, as well as a white Daisy Duke, from Dukes of Hazzard version too. The kit itself has poor fits, lots of flash, and not so great body, but not to much out there for old jeeps, and plus its got the AMC v8 under the hood! I used tamiya gray primer (2 light coats), duplicolor paint for the body (3 coats), and duplicolor clear (3 coats). Going back to Mr. Color clear...It's more expensive, but is soooo much better to sand and polish out. The flares were hand painted using testers model master semi gloss black. Brake lines are stainless steel wire. Cables and plug wires are McMaster car miniature wires (I think 28 awg). I used some spare taillight lenses I had from the junk yard to fabricate the lights on the rear. Overall I had a lot of fun with this one. Not a lot of parts, so I got to focus on more of the paint details.
Undecided if I want to add the golden eagle decal. Don’t know if they ever made them in red, and does not have the trim that they had. It is such a cool decal though. Let me know what you think.
Looking forward to getting my Christmas present out soon...maybe on the next model. It's a Iwata Eclipse HP-CS...woo hoo.
