In this short clip, Peter Robinson and John discuss the rising threat to individual liberty and free speech in the US reflected in the polls and the humour and candour displayed by Ronald Reagan throughout his presidency; how he instilled hope for the American people and the greater world, and the qualities that are needed now in a president of the United States in a time of rising totalitarian threats.
Peter Robinson is a television host, political commentator and Murdoch Distinguished Policy Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, California, where he writes about business and politics, edits Hoover's quarterly journal, the Hoover Digest, and hosts the institute's podcast Uncommon Knowledge. He was a speechwriter for President Reagan, and helped craft the 1987 Brandenburg Gate speech.
