Town Hall Meeting: Proposal for a Human Organ Atlas Hub at ESRF
15:00UK, Dec. 2nd, via Zoom
ESRF recently announced a new Community Proposal Route, Hubs (see www.esrf.fr/CommunityAccess). A cluster of about a dozen Universities and Institutes (UCL, Aachen, LADAF, Hannover, Harvard/Martinos Centre, etc) has formed to put in a proposal for a “Human Organ Atlas Hub” (or HOAHub) using Hierarchical Phase-Contrast Tomography (HiP-CT) a technique enabled by the EBS and BM18.
The goal is to bring together interdisciplinary groups to develop HiP-CT into an efficient tool for human organ imaging, through co-developing and sharing advances in sample preparation, imaging/experimental design, data and the computational technologies needed to analyse and interpret the data. Through this joint effort we aim to populate the Human Organ Atlas (HOA) - an atlas with micron resolution of intact human organs in health, disease, and aging, and use it to understand and mitigate diseases from Alzheimer’s to Cancer.
This short (90 minute) Workshop meeting will outline ESRF’s rational for Hubs, the HiP-CT technique (see bit.ly/HiP-CT-paper and its application at bit.ly/HiP-CT-videos), and the goals of the Hub. An open discussion follow.
Researchers interested in the HiP-CT technique, its quantification, or its application are encouraged to attend. The outcome may be becoming members of the bid, using the data (see human-organ-atlas.esrf.eu) to solve biological or medical problems, developing new AI techniques to interpret it, or using the data for medical training.
Agenda:
