GOODYEAR, Ariz. – The Reds will use nearly 30,000 baseballs this year. And each one has a story. Major league baseballs have two lives – one on the field - as short as one pitch or as long as several - and an afterlife, good or bad depending on whether it goes into a kid’s glove or a trophy case or gets scuffed up in batting practice, chewed up by a dog or left out in the rain.
