People are worried about how their face looks. So very important is how the facial contour is. Facial contouring has two meaning, if there is a good looking face, how to improve the face by using some products to make it more attractive or the contour has been lost because of some weight loss or some ageing changes. So in both context, we use the same word facial contouring. So when we talk about devices for improving the facial contouring, which are non-invasive. Traditionally when we talk about facial contouring is botox and fillers which are used to reshape the face, reduce the size of the jaw, give a more sharp definition to the jaw line, improve the overall appearance, take away some appearance of some hollowness of the face, we will use a lot of botox and fillers which are injectable treatment. The second treatments that are there in the market are some threads. We use the thread s to improve the texture of the skin as well as to give some tightening or some pull in the face. The third and the one which is the recent addition on the market is the facial contouring machines. The facial contouring machines are to used to tighten whatever has become slacken. So as we age, bit only is the skin becoming loose but the skin is held in place to the underlying bone in the form of a ligament or it is a connection between the skin and the soft tissue to the bone. So it is holding it up. So as we age progressively, thee ligaments becomes a little lose and they sag. So to improve the contour is to use the machines that is non-surgical facial contouring techniques and these are called by the names of high intensity focus ultrasound, treatments which are based on radiofrequency which go by the name of intragen or thermagen. These treatments are a little painful. I cannot describe these treatments as completely comfortable but most of our patients are able to go through these procedure which takes about 45 minutes to an hour quite comfortably and we can also offer topical anaesthesia where as cream of anaesthesia is applied on the skin before the treatment is conducted, but as opposed to the injected treatment the non surgical treatments take time to develop and you can se good improvement in a month to about 3 months after treatment, so don’t expect immediate results. If you want immediate results, it is better to go for an invasive treatment. If you don’t want an invasive treatment and you are waiting for a long term result, you can go for a facial contouring technique that is non-invasive and based on ultrasound or radiofrequency.
