Yosemite National Park Half Dome - climbing the most iconic rock formation when the cables are down for the season.
Permit is require from Memorial day to Columbus day.
I went on October 19th which was first weekend after cables were down.
'Cable down' means there will not be wooden steps on the final 400ft ascent to the summit.
I had my harness, two life lines ( one with Prusit knot method with fishermans knot at the end) , proper shoes wear and helmet.
Total elevation gain from the Valley : 4,800ft
Total mile ( one way ) : 8 miles
It would be nice if you could get permit to stay at
Little Yosemite Valley Backpackers Campground but this is one of the hardest backpackers campground permit to get. I made a reservation 5 month ago.
If you want to do day hike to summit half dome, you might have to start very early in the morning if you want to get down when there is still daylight.
This was strenuous hike but totally worth every single step.
