A review of a rare reproduction of Oakeshott Type XVIIIc longsword from Purpleheart Armoury by swordsmoth Viktor Berbekucz. I performed 6 longsword basic cuts (Oberhau, Unterhau, Mittlehau from both directions), and 5 meisterhaus or master strikes (Zwerchau, Scheilhau, Scheitelhau, Krumphau, and Zornhau) to showcase this sword cuts well with all of these moves.
I then talked about the Oakeshott Type XVIIIc swords' common characteristics and history in comparison with some of the other popular sword types. I also discussed this specific sword's handling and fit and finish in comparison with other reproductions of the XVIIIc category. Its detailed statistics are laid out to explain how it has such a potent cutting capacity.
In conclusion, this is one of the easier recommendations I have given, being the little brother of the famed Albion Principe that costs less than a quarter of the price while cutting almost as well. Its target audience are historical martial arts practitioners and sword cutting enthusiasts.
