Brooklyn-based kinetic art studio, BREAKFAST, has done it again! Their latest project, "The Pearl," is the world's largest kinetic sculpture of its kind. With nearly 3,000 computer-controlled Sway-Tiles, this monumental work is intricately crafted to mimic the fluid motions of water, wind, and marine life.
Each tile is equipped with three custom actuators, allowing for movement along 45cm (18-inch) linear rails, resulting in approximately 9,000 brushless motors. At its core, "The Pearl" is a tribute to the majestic sea. The dynamic essence of the ocean is brought to life through the kinetic tiles, with certain movements dynamically responding to real-time wind and tide data from the Caribbean.
