[ Ссылка ] “Straight Outta Compton” proved to be a smash hit after generating over $130 million in the box office. Hollywood is preparing to release an official sequel chronicling the rise of Death Row Records titled “Welcome To Death Row,” according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The film would be based on the book and documentary under the same titled by S. Leigh Savidge, who received a story and co-executive producer credit on “Straight Outta Compton.”
This film would focus on the era after N.W.A. that saw the rise of artists Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Tupac.
No music rights are attached to the film, which could complicate a studio deal, but Savidge brought in N.W.A’s music rights after he and Alan Wenkus began writing Compton in 2002. Savidge and Wenkus persuaded Eazy-E’s widow and rights holder Tomica Woods-Wright to sign on and set up the project at New Line (Universal eventually picked up the movie in 2014).
