The exhibition titled ‘Treasures of Yakutia’ enables visitors to the National Museum of Kazakhstan in Astana to get acquainted with vibrant works of unique art and learn more about the culture of the Sakha people. The unique exposition features stone vases, diamond jewelry, daggers encrusted with precious stones, and souvenirs made from mammoth tusks. Rare mineralogical collections from the state fund of precious metals and precious stones of Yakutia have been brought to Kazakhstan. National silver jewelry and a set of women’s festive attire are showcased at the museum as well. Special attention is given to the equestrian theme, with Yakut saddles, bridles, and horsecloths on display. In total, over 100 exhibits from the Treasury of Yakutia have been unveiled.
“All these exhibits are unique. They each possess a certain value. The most valuable among them are the diamonds. Jewelry items hold a different kind of value; it’s about how many diamonds are used and so forth. They also have an artistic value. The most precious aspect is the artistic concept behind them,” said exhibition manager Andrei Zakharov.
“This exhibition is unique in its format, as it features four sections, which showcase different directions of art. This is the first event kicking off the week of the Days of the Republic of Sakha in Kazakhstan. Besides, these events will be held in Almaty and other venues of our capital. We are delighted that the National Museum of Kazakhstan was chosen to launch these events,” said Kumar Zhunussov, Head of the International Relations Department at the Kazakh National Museum.
