ITV News gained exclusive access to Royal Preston Hospital, where three of the UK's 16 hospitalised Omicron patients are being treated.
Staff members at the hospital said they were concerned about the weeks ahead as they face another wave of Covid patients.
"We are severely stretched with regard to staffing levels," said chest consultant Dr Mohammed Munavvar.
"It's been busy round the clock with Covid as well as non-Covid patients."
