Leading Nutritionist Dominique Ludwig explains why some of us have super-taster or bitter taste SNP's in our genetics that make the bitter compounds in food taste stronger.
So if you don't like very dark chocolate ( I am just not doing 100% cocoa - EVER - because it is literally disgusting if you are a supertaster), espresso or Brussels Sprouts, it may be because you are tasting them differently to your friends!
Some bitter foods are actually quite good for us, so getting used to cruciferous vegetables or having a milk in our coffee might be the answer. I for one don't, sorry can't eat any chocolate above 70% without screwing my face up into a ball.
So you are not being fussy - it's your genes!
