Discovered in 1909 and first documented in 1911 in the BC Minister of Mines Annual Report, the Aufeas Gold Mining Company of Hope acquired the claim. W.M Brewer examined the mine in 1914 for the British Columbia Department of Mines and was the first to make a detailed report on the underground workings. Due to the high arsenic content, the ore incurred heavy penalties during smelting and required over 0.75 oz of gold per ton to achieve commercial success.
Today the land is held by a local resident. I contacted him and obtained permission to access the mine at our own risk.
