We all develop bothersome wrinkles on our face, necks and hands. In order to combat wrinkles or rhytides, there are injectable medications that we can use including neurotoxins (Botox, Xeomin, Dysport, Jeaveau) and dermal cosmetic fillers.
I first break down wrinkles into two categories: dynamic and static rhytides. Injecting toxins are good for dynamic wrinkles which come on with muscle movement whereas fillers are great at softening static wrinkles (present at rest). I discuss how dynamic wrinkles can become static and how Botox can help prevent that from happening.
I also show how two different filler ingredients (hyaluronic acid vs calcium hydroxyapatite) provide benefits through very different mechanisms of action. I also illustrate how these two ingredients react dramatically different to drops of water (hyaluronic acid soaks up water like a sponge).
Be sure you do your research before getting any of these procedures done and make sure that the injector is experienced as there are serious complications to especially fillers if injected incorrectly.
