Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome (IC/BPS) is a chronic, long-lasting condition with common symptoms of persistent or recurring pelvic pain, pressure and discomfort, accompanied by at least one other urinary symptom like urgent need of voiding or urinary frequency. Even in countries with the most developed public healthcare systems, only around 5-10% of IC/BPS patients are diagnosed. However, according the latest estimations, this condition may affect approximately 2.4% of the people.
